Backcountry Trust Administrator (part time)
12 month contract commencing Sept 2019
The Backcountry Trust is in its third year of successful operation. The Trust funds and facilitates the volunteer-led maintenance and upgrade of huts and tracks on public conservation land. It is an independent entity with ongoing funding from the Department of Conservation.
We are looking for a self-motivated and efficient administration contractor for the growing activities of the Trust.

The person will be paid on a 'contract for services' basis and work remotely from their own home or office. The Trust has no physical office. We envisage an average time commitment of 20 hours per week, but this may be unevenly distributed throughout the term of the contract. The contract rate is $25 per hour.

Key services required:
- Administer approved grants and collate specified project data from volunteer groups.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable; ensure compliance with the IRD and with Trust policy; reconcile bank account balances with cash book.
- Ensure accurate and timely data is available to fulfill reporting requirements to the Board, DOC and other stakeholders.
- Manage content for web pages and social media.
- Coordinate, and take minutes for, the Board's quarterly meetings.
- Work closely with the Trust's contracted Manager to ensure day to day operations are completed accurately and efficiently to meet targets outlined in the Board's Annual Business Plan.
The successful contractor will be able to display:
- Experience and proficiency with cloud based collaborative systems such as Xero accounting, AirTable databases, Weebly website admin, Facebook and Instagram social media.
- The ability to work remotely and flexibly with independence and initiative.
- Empathy for and commitment to the New Zealand outdoor community, and the kaupapa of the Backcountry Trust.
