Trail Fund Nominee
Meagan Robertson is a Trail Fund nominee based in Wellington. She has been writing about trails around New Zealand since moving here from Canada in 2011. While mountain biking is her first love, tramping has also been a constant throughout her life – from being dragged up mountains as a child, to bush bashing as a tree planter in Northern British Columbia, to hiking the West Coast Trail.

She continues to be blown away by how accessible the New Zealand backcountry is, thanks to the extensive network of huts and tracks that enable people of all ages and abilities to experience wild places. Joining the Backcountry Trust board felt like a natural way to help give back to the tracks and huts that make those experiences possible.

In Wellington she’s deeply involved in the mountain biking community, having spent a decade as President of Revolve Cycling and more than 13 years volunteering with WORD and Trail Fund. Through this work she’s helped introduce hundreds of riders to the sport and is especially passionate about encouraging more women to get into mountain biking and the outdoors.

A content marketer by day, Meagan brings extensive experience in marketing, storytelling and partnerships, and is excited to help grow awareness and support for New Zealand’s remarkable backcountry network.
