NZDA Nominee
Dave is a New Zealand Deerstalkers Association (NZDA) Nominee and joined the trust in September 2024. He has a long association with NZDA and recreational hunting starting back in 1995. Dave is a professional Geotechnical Engineer and is currently operating his own Engineering Consultancy and moonlights with off grid extra low power, telemetry and high speed broadband internet backbone system design and installation across our remote backcountry. Dave has held governance roles since 2004 across multiple business and not for profit and charity organisations in New Zealand. in 2020 Dave was awarded a kiwBank Local hero award as part of the New Zealander of the year awards for his tireless efforts in advocacy for responsible DeerStalking, Public Walking access and his environmental contribution to the Dairy industry as a leader in dairy effluent containment system design and technical input into IPENZ Practice note 21 which is now the New Zealand engineering benchmark for Dairy effluent system collection/Containment and disposal design. Dave has been repairing backcountry huts with NZDA since 2005 as well as coordinating massive backcountry volunteer working bees across this time frame. Liaising with DOC and coordinating Management agreements. He is based in Invercargill, however travels the South Island for work and play.
